Construction Supervisor Job Description

 

Job Summary

Jobsite supervisor needed for residential and commercial construction projects in the Asheville – Greenville corridor. We are looking for a candidate with leadership abilities and a desire to grow with a company that focuses on custom design/build projects for both commercial and residential clients. The ideal candidate will have a long-term relationship with our company that extends far beyond the initial project. The ideal candidate has entry-level management experience and is prepared to step up to a higher level of responsibility. The position is a working position (the successful candidate will have his tool belt on daily) and applicants should be knowledgeable and capable of working with most types of construction including concrete, masonry, carpentry, roofing, etc.

 

Work responsibilities will include onsite supervision of crews, layout, participation with crews, schedule control, material ordering, subcontractor coordination and supervision, budget management, etc. Depending on the specific project, the successful candidate will spend approximately 25%-50% of his time in supervisory functions and 50%-75% working with company labor. The position reports directly to the project manager (PM).

Skills:

á      Understanding/experience with foundation, framing, masonry, windows/doors, waterproofing, MEP, and interior and exterior finishes

á      Understanding of the inspection process

á      Proficient at reading and interpreting construction drawings

á      Able to interpret and visualize sophisticated geometries

á      Accurate at layout

á      Able to understand and monitor construction cost sheets

á      Good communication skills

á      Able to articulate and motivate the crew to meet labor projections

á      Proficient carpenter

á      Proficient at documentation of labor, material purchases/deliveries, etc.

á      Advance preparation mentally and organizationally for the pending work of any given day or week

á      Able to communicate as an equal with the architect and PM making suggestions on how to accomplish goals efficiently

á      Able to prepare estimates or assist in the preparation of estimates

á      Clear and timely communicator with the suppliers, subcontractors, and PM
